Green Truss Update...

...please remember this put in is a privilege. Alomst all of the White Salmon runs through Private Property.

Nate checking out the new log in Lower Zig Zag Canyon.
*from here it looks like there might be a way through.....

*looking worse...

Vertical log in mid-current and a river wide piece on the upstream side of that.....
*not an option....

This pile of wood is directly behind the big fan rock in the middle of Lower Zig Zag Canyon. I took a new rope in today and replaced the old one so that the portage is doable, however the rope hangs off a 15 foot slope into a verticle 30 feet down to the water, if you have any kind of rappel device you might want to bring it with you. Please stay in the canyon as much as possible, everything else is Private Land. We are lucky enough to be able to scout upper and lower Zig Zag because we are confined in the gorge. Upper was good to go today and the portage on river left at Lower Zig Zag is the way around. Lower flows are going to expose the horizontal log more and more...

Keel Brightman going down.
*just down from this boat is the vertical hang.

The back side of the infamous cave in the river left wall of Lower Zig Zag.
*the front side of this cave is just downstream of the new logs.

Thanks to Alex Pinchot and Dan Anderson for
spotting the log and Brandon Backman for passing the word quickly!

I just wanted to say thanks for putting a rope in to portage the new wood. I have always wanted to run the truss and now I have the skills to do so. It is nice to know that I can still run it even with what should have been an un-portageable log jam. I just wanted to sat thanks and not let this go unnoticed.

Thanks Nick, It's been a favorite of mine for years and unfortunately we have to deal with the log issues, but maybe it will get pushed out by next season.

Enjoy the run! Maybe I'll see you out there soon.
